On June 19, 2021, Sister Dailin, Tsai from Mozambique reported the current condition of local Tzu chi development and shared some heartwarming stories. The Metu Shila Daai Farm in the central of Mozambique originally was a 2 hectare farmland. Tzu Chi volunteers sought several farmlands and shared Tzu Chi’s stories with the landlords. After learning about Tzu Chi’s efforts in Mozambique, landlords lent their lands to Tzu Chi without asking anything in return. Currently, local volunteers have found three farms, which reached a total of 19 hectares of land.

Master said that the pandemic of COVID-19 is a grand lesson. Everyone should be vigilant and learn from it. We should also broaden our horizons. In Mozambique, Africa, which is far away from Taiwan, people are living in poverty but they earn their own living and put their mind to it with a strength, effort, love, and action. They work hard to cultivate land for farming by themselves. After harvesting, they can support themselves and share food with others. This is love. They exercise the harvest of Daai Farm to feed the poor there; at the same time, they can also spread love to water the deserts of the soul. Volunteer Paul has encouraged thousands of people to take part in Daai Farm over the years. He even promotes Jing Si aphorism every day. His footprints are all walking on the true path of the Lotus Sutra.

In the video, Paul said: " we shared our experience helping others with the landlord, so he lent this land to us and hoped we can help more elderly people by cultivating the land. Plant a seed of kindness and cultivate compassion. We work hard, and make a great effort to make the harvest thrive.

Local volunteer Paul is very appreciative of Tzu Chi’s teaching. He encourages himself to be a Tzu Chi trainer. Every morning at 5:00 a.m., he sets off for Daai Farm. He bows respectfully to the volunteer’s vest, and then puts it on with gratitude. He would bring a picture book of Jing Si Aphorism in Portuguese when he is on the way to Daai Farm, and shares Dharma with others while walking.

In the video, Master said, "Paul is the first Tzu Chi volunteer in Metu Shila town. He is very appreciative of Tzu Chi’s teachings. He said that there is no photo of Master, so he hangs Tzu Chi volunteer vest up and then bows to it with respect before going out. After putting it on, he shares Dharma with others on the way. Wherever he encounters people, he shoulders such a sense of mission to spread kind words and share Jing Si Aphorism with people. This is the way how we learn the Dharma when we practice it and share the Dharma in order to benefit people. Isn’t that what the Lotus Sutra tells? When you learn the Dharma, you have to share and teach the Dharma. We need to walk on the path of kindness by ourselves, and make it open for everyone to walk on the right path.

In addition, Paul also leads volunteers to review Jing Si Aphorism by the river at recess. The sky seems that it is the cover; the earth seems that it is the holder; people are between the sky and the earth. Everything is on the track. Sky clouds are drifting by the wind; water is flowing on the ground continuously; people are living there. This is a living land full of vitality. What a beautiful place!

On August 5, 2020, there was another report about the harvest and sharing of Mozambique's Daai Farm.

"The past wasteland is green now; People working in the Daai Farm are joyful with the harvest and plentiful tomatoes. The mayor of Yamama came to visit and experience the harvest and spreading the love. He maintained social distancing, and delivered vegetables and fruits in person."

After collecting resources and recruiting volunteers, now there are seven Daai farms in Sofala, a central province of Mozambique, and about 1,700 volunteers have devoted themselves to farming. Since volunteers from southern Maputo shared straw mats for charity sale to support international disaster reliefs, volunteers of Metu Shila Village were inspired to create a team to make straw mats and donate them to the elderly in the village. The ripple effect of spreading love was expanded. Volunteers help themselves and others by working hard in Daai farms. Due to the harvest, the distributions of fruits and vegetables have helped more than 47,000 people.

The video- [The World Is Full of Love] on June 24, 2021 https://youtu.be/FdFGH0xled8 (1:55~2:33)

Master said: "People are not afraid of poverty but the lack of love. Master knows that the material life of every volunteer is not rich, but your heart with great love is abundant.”

Master encouraged Mozambique volunteers and said, "At least you have comforted their restless hearts, and the seeds of goodness have begun to grow in their hearts and will become a green and vibrant field to nourish a lot of healthy seeds afterwards. Therefore, we must seize the affinities and make the entire land of Mozambique flourished and rich.”
